Belt conveyor scale provides accurate CO2 calculation

A MMI-2 belt conveyor scale installed in a telestacker enables Avedøreværket to prepare an accurate CO2 statement for the authorities. The scale weighs the fly ash that is added to the biofuel as the ash travels on a conveyor belt. A simple solution with some modern technology from Siemens has proved to be a stroke of genius at the Avedøreværket, a combined heat and power station, located in Avedøre, Denmark, just south of Copenhagen. By installing a legal-for-trade approved scale under the conveyor belt that adds wet fly ash to the biofuel, Ørsted (Avedøreværket is owned by Ørsted) can provide accurate calculations of CO2 emissions to the authorities. "To ensure correct settlement of the CO2 tax, we need to be able to document to the authorities exactly how much ash we mix in. We use the scale both to comply with all regulations to the authorities and to regulate the addition so that we get the right mixing ratio," said...
