Galia Green Power has signed an 18-year financing agreement with a consortium of PKO Bank Polski, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) and mBank, securing PLN 376 million (€89.3 million) for biogas plant acquisitions and biomethane project development.
The transaction represents one of the largest financing arrangements for biogas and biomethane projects in Poland in recent years.
The financing covers acquisition of existing biogas plants, expansion of operational installations and development of new biomethane production facilities.
The first tranche will be deployed in the current quarter, with subsequent project inclusion enabled through a flexible financing model that accommodates projects meeting specified technological and environmental criteria.
The financing structure includes potential facility expansion by an additional PLN 225 million (€53.3 million), enabling further capital deployment as qualifying projects are identified and developed. This contingent facility structure allows scalable capital deployment aligned with project pipeline maturation.
Marcin Orłowski, CEO of Galia Green Power, characterised the financing as critical to implementing the company's investment strategy, noting that consortium participation from three leading financial institutions validates project quality and reflects growing market recognition of biomethane's role in Poland's energy transition.
Paweł Wójtowicz, Director of Regional Project Finance at BGK, stated that consortium financing allows financial institutions to combine capabilities and secure capital necessary for biomethane market development. He emphasised that implementing such investments expands institutional know-how in decarbonisation project financing, increasingly important as renewable energy scale and generation capacity expand.
Marcin Majewski, Director of Corporate Client Relations at PKO Bank Polski, noted the bank's commitment to scaling energy transition financing. He positioned biomethane projects as combining renewable energy development with local resource utilisation and circular economy benefits.
Tomasz Niewola, Director of Structured and Mezzanine Finance at mBank, stated that biogas and biomethane projects align with institutional strategy for sustainable economic development. He emphasised that such investments support renewable energy deployment, local material utilisation and energy security objectives.
The transaction signals institutional banking sector confidence in Polish biomethane market viability and commercial project fundamentals, enabling platform-scale investment in distributed biogas and centralised biomethane production infrastructure across Poland.
