Nord Gas Solutions has secured a contract to build a 35 tonne-per-day biogas liquefaction plant in Poland, which is set to become the country's first bioLNG production facility and marks a step forward for its developing biomethane sector.
The plant will be a brownfield conversion, built onto existing biogas production infrastructure rather than a new-build site. It will use Nord Gas Solutions' Puregas CA75 LBG and Puregas MR35 technologies to convert manure-based biogas into low-carbon-intensity bioLNG, with project execution now underway.
The development illustrates how established biogas assets can be upgraded for renewable fuel production, adding value to agricultural residues while supplying low-carbon fuel to the transport sector.
Most of the bioLNG produced is expected to go to transport customers, where demand for low-carbon fuel continues to rise.
Poland's agricultural sector gives it considerable potential for biomethane production, though the country's biomethane market remains at an early stage compared with more established markets elsewhere in Europe.
Nord Gas Solutions positions bioLNG as a route to using biogas in transport applications without relying on gas grid injection infrastructure, which can be limited in some locations.
Magnus Folkelid, sales manager for biogas at Nord Gas Solutions, said the project highlights the role bioLNG can play in supporting the energy transition while creating value from agricultural resources.
He added that the company was pleased to contribute to the establishment of bioLNG production capacity in Poland and to support the continued development of the country's biomethane sector.
The project reflects the wider growth in demand for renewable fuels across Europe, with biogas upgrading and liquefaction technologies increasingly central to producing renewable gases and supporting the shift toward lower-carbon energy systems.
