NZ company Azwood Energy joins GoodChips scheme

GoodChips®, the first international certification scheme for wood chips and hog fuel, has welcomed Azwood Energy as its newest member.

Azwood is a leading energy supplier in New Zealand. In joining the scheme, the company has reinforced GoodChips’ mission to ensure that quality materials are seen throughout the supply chain at a local and international level.

Azwood moves around 1,000,000m3 of raw and processed material annually, supporting New Zealand’s aim to lower its carbon footprint by providing cost-comparative carbon-neutral wood fuels.

“Azwood has led the New Zealand biomass industry for almost 20 years,” said Brook Brewerton, general manager at Azwood. “The unique methodology that sets us apart has now been bolstered by a quality third-party certified accreditation. This gives our clients an assurance of quality and accountability that will continue to drive the market forward for the next two decades.

According to GoodChips, wood fuel has the potential to be one of the cleanest means of energy production in New Zealand, making the bioenergy marketplace an increasingly competitive one.
