A secondary school in County Louth has applied for planning permission to install a biomass boiler system under the EU's Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III).

The board of management of Bush Post Primary School in Riverstown, Dundalk, is seeking permission to erect a single-storey detached flat-roofed biomass boiler unit with an attached fuel store and flue, along with associated siteworks, services and landscaping.

The application, lodged with Louth County Council, falls under the provisions of Directive (EU) 2023/2413 and may be subject to section 34D of the Planning and Development Act, as amended.

Members of the public have two weeks from the date of receipt of the application by the planning authority to submit observations in writing, on payment of a €20 fee. The planning application can be inspected at the council's offices between 9am and 1pm and 2pm and 4pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank and public holidays.
