Eco Sustainable Solutions secures major organic waste handling contract

Eco Sustainable Solutions has secured a multi-million-pound waste handling contract with Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole Council (BCP) in the UK.

The four-year contract – with an option to extend up to 10 years – will see Eco Sustainable Solutions processing all organic waste generated in the BCP region, including food waste, garden waste, and wood waste.

The waste will be recycled into green energy such as electricity, heat, and low-carbon biofuels.

According to a report by the Dorset Echo, the processing will take place at Eco Sustainable Solutions’ 14-acre site in Parley and its anaerobic digestion (AD) plant in Piddlehinton, both in Dorset.

The firm recently announced plans to build an energy recovery facility at its Parley site to help process a further 60,000 tonnes of waste annually. Up to a fifth will be recycled and the rest used to generate low-carbon energy.

Eco Sustainable Solutions’ commercial director, Peter Hardy, said: “It is a further vote of confidence in our 25 years of waste management services here in Dorset.

“It is tremendous news for us, but more importantly the people of the BCP region who want reassurance that recycling and environmental protection are top priorities at this critical time for the planet.”
