Turning up the heat in Riga

In Riga, Latvia’s capital, Justsen Energiteknik recently completed a major district heating project, one of its largest projects to-date.

In Latvia, Justsen Energiteknik recently completed a very special project, one of its largestever biomass projects, at a district heating facility.

Justsen had previously worked on various projects with engineering design experts Arthiteh in Latvia, which led them to Energoremonts, a company operating in the industrial construction and power sector. Together, the two companies participated in an open tender for the construction of a biomass boiler house, with a 40 MW output in a heating plant for Rigas Siltums, the leading heat supplier in the city of Riga, Latvia’s capital. Energoremonts was chosen as the general contractor for the project, and Justsen was subcontracted to supply two 20 MW biomass boiler systems.

“In a simplistic view, a biomass boiler house is connected to the district heating network,” a spokesperson for Justsen told Bioenergy Insight.
