Ukraine biogas complex doubles capacity to 72 million cubic metres
The facility, operational since November 2019, currently produces 1,350 cubic metres of biogas per hour. The expansion programme, implemented in three phases, will increase throughput to 8,000 cubic metres per hour.
Feedstock processing will expand from approximately 200 tonnes daily to 1,500 tonnes daily, incorporating beet pulp, chicken manure, beet tops and tails, green plant silage, molasses, fat and apple pomace. The upgraded facility will generate multiple revenue streams: 35 million cubic metres of biomethane annually, 30 million cubic metres of commercial-grade CO₂, 45,000 MWh of electricity, 550 gigacalories of thermal energy, 95,000 tonnes of solid organic fertiliser (cake) and 480,000 tonnes of liquid organic fertiliser (digestate).
The complex uses ADVERIO's Dutch zero-waste anaerobic digestion technology, with more than 60% of equipment manufactured in Ukraine at UTC's KEMP production facility under licensed agreements. Liquefied biomethane and CO₂ will be supplied to YM Liquid Gas LLC for export.
The expansion represents significant infrastructure investment in Ukraine's biomethane sector, which has been rapidly scaling export capacity. YM Liquid Gas commenced bio-LNG exports in September 2025 and has become a key supplier of liquefied biomethane to European markets.
