Port of Antwerp considers biomass plant

The Antwerp Port Authority is said to be considering the possibility of constructing a large-scale biomass-fired power plant in the Antwerp Port area.

The plant would ideally generate between 200MW and 400MW of renewable energy, on a site adjacent to the local petrochemical infrastructure with direct waterfront access and road and rail links.

The Antwerp Port Authority is now calling on producers to submit their project proposals. The closing date for submissions is November 26 2010 and should be sent to the Port of Authority, Entrepotkaai 1 2000 Antwerp.
