Quantum commissions second biogas power plant
In Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia, power business Quantum Power has completed its second biogas-fired power plant.
The facility converts biogas from meat processing and production firm AJ Bush & Son's covered anaerobic waste pond into electricity for use at the site. Construction was completed by Quantum, which also owns and operates the plant.
'Quantum has enjoyed the support of the AJ Bush & Son's team at Beaudesert and it has been very rewarding for our company to deliver a positive outcome for the site through the installation and commissioning of this 500kW biogas power plant,' says commercial director of Quantum Justin Vianello. 'We look forward to working with the site to significantly expand the generation capacity over the next 12 months.'
In the future the company is planning to expand its technology for use throughout the whole of Australia.
Back in March 2010 Quantum Power commissioned a biogas plant in Victoria, which comprises a 500kW and a 260kW biogas engine at a milk processing facility.
