ENplus-certified wood pellet production surpasses 14.5 million tonnes in record 2025

Certified wood pellet production under the ENplus® scheme exceeded 14.5 million tonnes in 2025, marking a record year for the programme and reversing a period of market stabilisation.

Germany retained its position as the leading producer nation with approximately 3.95 million tonnes of certified output, followed by Austria at 1.89 million tonnes and France at more than 1.08 million tonnes. Poland and Spain rounded out the top five, reinforcing Europe's dominance in certified pellet production.

Poland holds the highest number of ENplus®-certified pellet producers, while Germany leads on certified traders. A notable emerging trend is the growth of Chilean participation, with more than 10 new producers joining the scheme over the past year.

Projections for 2026, based on submissions from certified companies, point to continued expansion, with volumes expected to surpass 15 million tonnes worldwide.

Elena Dumitru, Certification Director at ENplus®, said the figures demonstrated the underlying strength of demand for quality-assured product. "This trend confirms the resilience of the pellet market and the continued demand for high-quality certified products."

The scheme also reported progress on fraud prevention, having detected and resolved 1,470 cases to date, with its fraud management team continuing to identify fraudulent entities and misleading websites.

ENplus® marked its 15th anniversary in 2025, publishing updated second editions of its standards covering company requirements and trademark usage.
