Dalkia Energia opens CHP plant in Hungary

Dalkia Energia has opened its €80.8 million biomass combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Hungary.

Located in the city of Pecs, the project has the capacity to generate 35MW of power and 70MW of heat from 240,000 tonnes a year of straw feedstock. This is estimated to cut CO¬2 emissions by around 150,000 tonnes a year.

The new plant will provide 60% of the city's demand for the district heating, which comprises 31,000 flats and 450 institutions.
