ReFuels will begin construction of a new public access compressed natural gas refuelling station in Swindon on 1 June 2026, targeting completion in Q1 2027.
The station, operated through the company's 40%-owned CNG Fuels network, will be capable of refuelling 12 HGVs simultaneously and will sit close to the M4 motorway, serving the freight corridor between London, South Wales and the Midlands.
The Swindon site complements a CNG Fuels station under construction at Magor in South Wales, with the two facilities together forming what the company describes as a clean fuel corridor for low-carbon logistics along one of the UK's busiest transport routes.
Philip Fjeld, CEO and co-founder of ReFuels, said the expansion reflected growing fleet demand for biomethane as operators adopt larger 6x2 gas trucks. "Swindon and Magor are the next elements of that strategy, giving fleet operators access to a stable, domestic energy source," he said.
Bio-CNG sourced from food waste and manure delivers greenhouse gas emissions savings of 85–90% compared with diesel, with fuel costs around 25% lower than diesel and approximately 40% lower than HVO.
More than 2,250 trucks currently refuel daily across CNG Fuels' 16 UK stations. ReFuels aims to nearly double network dispensing capacity by the end of 2028, reaching 20,000 HGVs per day and dispensing over 780 million kg of biomethane annually.
