A new US wood pellet production facility owned by Enviva Pellets has been officially opened in North Carolina.
The facility has a capacity of 500,000 tonnes a year and is set to support 79 full time employees and an additional 130 jobs in forestry and logistic sectors.

The Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Centre in Wisconsin, US has had its funding by the US Department of Energy (US DoE) renewed for another five years.
The centre receives $25 million (€19.2 million) a year from the US DoE and supports almost 400 researchers.

A new biogas project in was inaugurated in Finland in March under the banner of ‘the world’s biggest’ facility of its type.
Operated by Vaskiluodon Voima, the 140MW biomass gasification plant aims to help the country cut its use of coal down by around 40%. It has been built in Vassa, central Finland.

Car rental brand Enterprise has made a large donation to the University of Missouri in respect to renewable fuel research.
The $2 million (€1.5 million) gift, via Enterprise Holdings Foundation, will reportedly be used to research biofuels, biomass and energy efficiency.

A new biofuels plant in Sofia, Bulgaria has awarded the construction contract to Greek company Aktor-Helektor.
