The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is to provide a loan of up to €7 million for the construction of a new biomass boiler plant in Prijedor, a municipality in the north west of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This will be EBRD's first investment in renewable energy in the region.

Waste-to-product business, Shanks Group, has announced that Iris Solutions, a consortium led by Orgaworld Canada, part of Shanks' Organics division, has been selected as the preferred proponent for the Surrey Biofuels Processing Facility project in Canada.

A wood pellet plant, built and started-up by mechanical engineering company Hekotek in November 2014, has reached the designed output capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year.
