Sustainability, quality and safety: these issues and more to be discussed at the 11th Pellets Industry Forum
The growing demand for wood pellets means a growing need for wood. This in turn gives rise to questions about the sustainability of wood pellet production, as well as quality assurance and production safety.
On 4-5 October 2011 the 11th Pellets Industry Forum, held in Stuttgart, Germany, will examine these issues, and more.
The forum will open on 4 October with a presentation on the process of moving towards sustainable, future-orientated energy supply. The opening speaker is Klaus Töpfer, former Minister of the Environment and chairman of the German government's Ethics Commission on a Safe Energy Supply.
Other speaks will include Todd Bush, Poyry Management Consulting; Peter Rechberger, GM of the European Pellet Council; and Hans Dieter Hermes, head of biomass development at Vattenfall.
A workshop entitled 'Financing of big bioenergy projects' will round off the 11th Pellets Industry Forum.
The Forum will take place one day before, and on the first day of Interpellets.
Interpellets 2011 will take place between 5 and 7 October 2011 in the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre. More than 100 exhibitors will be showcasing their latest products, services and technical solutions in the field of pellets technology and wood-fired heating at the show, which is expected to attract around 6,000 visitors.
