Greening launches biomethane development platform TWiNE in Spain
Spanish renewables company Greening has launched TWiNE, a dedicated platform for the integrated development of biomethane projects in Spain, marking the group's expansion into renewable gases.

The new company already manages a portfolio of projects across the country, with 17 at an advanced stage of development — positioning it among Spain's leading biomethane development platforms at launch.

TWiNE's model brings every critical stage of project development under one roof: feedstock sourcing and securing through agreements with livestock farmers, agricultural producers and waste management companies; site selection; environmental and administrative permitting; gas grid connection engineering; and technical development through to Ready to Build (RTB) status. The integrated approach is intended to compress development timelines, reduce project risk and deliver assets fully prepared for execution.

"With TWiNE, we are expanding our commitment to renewable energy through a specialised platform that will enable us to drive biomethane development in Spain and turn its enormous potential into real projects," said Pablo Otín, CEO of Greening.

Spain holds one of Europe's highest biomethane production potentials, underpinned by abundant agricultural and livestock residues, agro-industrial by-products and organic waste, alongside an established gas network capable of absorbing renewable gas. EU initiatives including REPowerEU and the recast Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) have identified biomethane as a priority technology for cutting fossil fuel dependence and strengthening energy autonomy.

TWiNE said it will work with livestock and agricultural producers, waste managers, landowners, public administrations, industrial partners and investors to shape projects around regional needs, with each designed to deliver energy, environmental and socio-economic benefits — from emissions reduction and circular economy gains to rural investment and local energy security.
