South African fund manager Infra Impact Investment Managers has acquired a minority stake in Cape Town Biogas (CTB), purchasing the holding from Metier Sustainable Capital Fund II, which remains the facility's majority shareholder.
CTB is a redeveloped organic waste-to-biogas plant that converts organic waste into biomethane, beverage-grade CO2 and premium compost. Its biomethane offers a lower-carbon alternative to LPG in the South African market, while the site's multiple output streams support circular economy outcomes.
PwC advised Infra Impact on the transaction, providing financial due diligence, tax due diligence and indicative valuation services. The firm noted it had previously supported Infra Impact on an earlier investment in the biogas sector, and framed the deal as part of continued capital deployment into sustainable infrastructure contributing to decarbonisation, resource efficiency and South Africa's energy transition.
