Last year, Gasum sourced 1 million tonnes of biodegradable feedstocks for biogas production in Finland and Sweden. Anna-Mari Satosalmi, senior manager, feedstock and fertilisers at Gasum, told Bioenergy Insight about the challenges facing the region, ahead of her presentation at the International Biomass Congress & Expo. Satosalmi is responsible for leading Gasum’s team who source and organise feedstocks to its 17 biogas plants in the Nordics, and to oversee nutrient deliveries and recovery from digestates in co-operation with its subcontractors. There are 10 professionals in her team, whose main expertise are focused in contracting, sourcing, logistics, nutrient use in farming, wastewater treatment and biogas production. “These professionals handle hundreds of truck loads daily from our biogas plants both in and out in pace with biogas production at plant,” Satosalmi told Bioenergy Insight.
