Weltec Biopower marks 25 years with 450 plants across 27 countries
Founded in Vechta in 2001, the company has built more than 450 energy plants across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia. Its offering spans planning, construction, commissioning and ongoing service, with all systems developed in-house using stainless steel technology.
The company says its customer base has shifted significantly since its early years. While agricultural biogas plants processing manure and maize once dominated its order book, industrial applications now account for a growing share of its work. Weltec says demand is rising for plants processing organic slaughterhouse and biowaste, brewery and food production residues, and sewage sludge — feedstocks that require more complex technical processes including pathogen sanitisation, depackaging to remove plastics, and digestate treatment to recover water.
Following the sale of its plant construction division, the company now focuses exclusively on developing, designing and constructing biogas plants, supported by a service offering aimed at maintaining long-term plant performance.
Weltec is managed by owner Jens Albartus alongside managing directors Dirk Krumdieck, who leads sales and marketing, and Tobias Gerweler, who heads the technical division.
The company says it sees significant growth potential ahead, citing increasing global demand for circular economy solutions and the conversion of organic waste into energy.
