Finnish firm partners to develop modular biomass biogas plants in India
The modular systems convert agricultural residues, municipal solid waste and other organic feedstocks into clean energy. Capable of processing more than 100 different feedstock types—from napier grass and paddy straw to fruit and vegetable waste—the plants can be commissioned within 4-5 months, compared with 12-18 months for conventional systems.
Unlike wet digestion reactors, Arciplug's dry anaerobic design requires minimal water, consumes around 30 per cent less feedstock and significantly reduces electricity demand and operating costs. The open, modular architecture allows rapid deployment across agricultural, industrial and municipal applications.
Arcistar plans to install around 150 reactors across India over the next five years, supporting the country's energy security, waste management and climate goals whilst reducing fossil fuel dependency.
