KTG Agrar expands biogas capacity

KTG Agrar, a producer of agricultural commodities, has reached a 20MW milestone as it continues to expand its biogas capacity.

To date the company generates enough electricity for 34,000 homes; a significant increase from the 28,000 households it served in mid-2011.

This figure is set to increase further as KTG Agrar is currently building more biogas plants with a combined capacity of over 10MW.

'Thanks to the mild start to the winter, we can still work at full capacity on the construction sites,' says KTG board member responsible for the biogas segment of business, Thomas Berger. 'We have therefore begun to build plants that were originally planned for 2012, which means that we can take them online earlier than next year.'

In addition to the 10MW already under construction, another 9MW is at the planning or approval stage.

By 2012 KTG Agrar is expected to generate over 30MW of renewable energy.
