Syed Nazim bin Syed Faisal, CEO of BiON, a major engineering and renewable energy solutions provider in Malaysia, discusses the country’s bioenergy potential.

Could you tell our readers a bit about yourself and your background?

I am an accountant by training and began my career in Audit at KPMG. I then became Strategic Planning Manager for Malaysia’s major shipping line before returning to finance to work for several years in the banking industry in Malaysia as well as Bahrain.

In 2015, I joined Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad, an international energy services group, becoming Group CFO. Serba provides integrated engineering solutions to the oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, and water and wastewater industries. During my time as CFO, we listed Serba on the Main Board of the Malaysian stock exchange, completed multiple successful funding rounds, and achieved strong double-digit profit growth.
