Gasum signs long-term LNG supply deal for Fjord1 ferry route
The route connects Stavanger and Haugesund along the E39 and is described as an important piece of coastal infrastructure. Fjord1, Norway's largest ferry company, transports more than 20 million passengers annually.
Gasum will bunker the vessels truck-to-ship at both ends of the route, requiring precise scheduling to maintain uninterrupted ferry operations. Jacob Granqvist, vice president maritime at Gasum, said the agreement demonstrated the company's ability to provide reliable LNG deliveries for demanding maritime operations through its integrated supply chain.
Tor Kristoffersen, head of regional operations at Fjord1, said reliable fuel supply was essential to safe and predictable operations on one of Norway's most significant ferry connections. 'This agreement supports our focus on operational reliability, efficient logistics and our long-term ambition to provide safe and environmentally friendly transport,' he said.
Gasum supplies LNG and bio-LNG to maritime customers across north-western Europe, ranging from service vessels to container ships. The company said it could offer customers a flexible transition to bio-LNG, whether as a full substitute or blended with LNG in any ratio, providing a pathway to lower or negative emission operations.
