Enviva acquires CKS Energy

On 9 August 2010 US and Europe-based wood pellet manufacturer Enviva completed the acquisition of CKS Energy, a privately held company dedicated to the production of pellets for the industrial, commercial and residential sectors.

‘Strategically CKS is an excellent fit, providing Enviva with a robust and stable fibre supply chain and easy access both to our key European customers as well as to customers in the upper Midwest,’ said John Keppler, CEO and chairman of Enviva. ‘Through this acquisition we look forward to increasing our production of sustainably manufactured wood pellets to meet increasing demand from utilities, power companies, businesses and consumers in Europe and the US.’

Enviva’s most recent purchase, which has been named Enviva Pellets Amory, will create a number of new job openings and increase the company’s pellet production capacity from 50,000 tonnes to more than 100,000 tonnes of wood pellets a year. The company aims to be manufacturing over 1 million tonnes of pellets by 2015.
