Cannington to expand biomass plant

In Somerset, England, UK, Cannington Enterprises' proposal to expand its biogas plant has been approved.

Despite objections from 16 locals, claiming the facility would create unwanted odours and have a detrimental impact on tourism, county councillors okayed the plans.

Residents were also concerned about the increased levels of traffic the expanded plant would bring to the area, in addition to extra HGVs using narrow local lanes. But councillors have gone along with the plans in the hope that the facility will reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Cannington's next step in the development process is to prepare an Odour Management plan, a Noise Management plan and a Landscape plan.
