Biomass CHP builds demonstration plant

Biomass CHP is building a new demonstration plant in Wilton, Wiltshire after receiving a £100,000 investment.

The company's wood-chip gasification process can produce renewable heat and energy without generating any liquid effluent that would need to be disposed of and treated. The investment is to develop this system and comes in the form of the Finance for Business North East Proof of Concept Fund, managed by Northstar Ventures.

'This investment by Northstar will enable us to install and commission a demonstration plant at Wilton that will prove the viability of this ground-breaking technology,' says company chairman Ralph Pickles.

The Proof of Concept Fund is backed by the European Investment Bank and the European Regional Development Fund.
