The M.V. Ultra Yorkshire, a Handymax carrier operated by Ultrabulk, has completed its first transatlantic voyage, docking at the Port of Liverpool with over 29,000 tonnes of biomass pellets bound for Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire.

The vessel, named as part of Drax Power Station's 50th anniversary celebrations, made the crossing from Baton Rouge powered entirely by B100 biofuel, reducing the journey's CO₂ emissions by around 90% compared with conventional marine fuel. The cargo will be transported by rail from Liverpool to Drax.

Drax has also concluded a new contract with Ultrabulk running to March 2031, which includes annual commitments to reduce transport emissions over the contract period.
