Bioenergy event updates – Covid-19 outbreak

Bioenergy events across the globe are being postponed in light of the recent Covid-19 (or coronavirus) outbreak. While many events have been rescheduled for later in the year, others have yet to confirm a new date. The following events have been affected:

Value of Biogas East, Toronto, Canada

Postponed - New dates TBC

"The 2020 Value of Biogas East events will be postponed due to unfolding situations and uncertainty related to Covid-19. The increasing global restrictions on travel and recommendations to limit large gatherings have informed this decision as the health and wellbeing of our members, speakers, delegates, sponsors and exhibitors is our priority.

"We will continue to keep our communication channels open as we work to find an alternate date and we are very appreciative of your support of this gathering of the biogas industry in Canada."

Bioenergie FORST Live 2020, Offenburg, Germany

Postponed - New dates TBC

"Due to the current developments regarding the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, the Offenburg-Ortenau trade fair is taking a drastic measure: the regional public fair BAUEN WOHNEN Garten from March 20-22, 2020, the double trade fair Balance with Gemstone Days from March 28-29, and the international trade fair FOST live with Wild & Fisch from April 3-5 2020 will not take place as planned, but will be postponed to an as-yet-undetermined date.

"...the uncertainty among exhibitors and visitors has increased significantly. Unfortunately, the sometimes pronounced drop in visitors to other currently running trade fairs increases the need for this difficult decision."

11th Biomass Pellets Trade & Power, Tokyo, Japan

Postponed - New dates TBC

World Biogas Expo & Summit, Birmingham, UK

Rescheduled - 7-8 October 2020

"We have been closely monitoring the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak and related WHO and government guidelines. With responsibilities for the health of exhibitors and visitors and after consulting with our advisory board and key industry stakeholders, ADBA and WBA have decided to postpone The World Biogas Expo 2020.

"The World Biogas Expo will now take place at the NEC Birmingham on 7-8 October 2020. Consequentially, the co-located events, The World Biogas Summit and The AD and Biogas Industry Awards Dinner, will also be postponed until this date.

"Given the spread of the virus and containment measures now being taken worldwide, both visitor and exhibitor attendance would be affected given our evolution into a global event.

"We are certain that our sponsors, exhibitors and visitors will have a more positive and constructive experience at The World Biogas Expo 2020 later in the year, once the impact of Covid-19 has calmed."

IFAT 2020, Munich, Germany

Rescheduled - 7-11 September 2020

"Due to the increasing spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Europe and based on the recommendations of the Germany Ministry of Health and the Bavarian State Government, Messe München feels compelled to postpone IFAT 2020.

"This measure is taken in consultation with the Executive Board of the Exhibitors' Advisory Board, the conceptual partners and in responsibility for the health of exhibitors and visitors. IFAT will take place from September 7-11 2020."

Stefan Rummel, managing director of Messe München and responsible for IFAT, said: "Under the given circumstances, opening IFAT in May would not be justifiable towards our customers, in particular from a medical and economic perspective. Now, we are looking forward to hosting a successful IFAT 2020 in September jointly with the industry."
