The plant, which is called Hirohata Biomass Power Plant, will utilise wood chips - both locally produced and imported - alongside palm kernel shells.
The wood chips that are locally sourced will come from Green Power Fuel Co, an Osaka Gas subsidiary.
The Hirohata Biomass Power Plant is the fourth to be put into commercial operation for the Daigas Group, also a wholly-owned subsidiary of Osaka Gas.
The company stated that this facility is the first plant in which the subsidiary has played a leading role since its initial development.
