Land Energy, one of the UK's largest wood pellet manufacturers, is supplying fuel for all the outdoor heaters at the Rooftop Cinema Club's Peckham venue in south London this autumn.
The arrangement sees clean air compliant pellets produced at the company's site in southwest Scotland used to heat the open-air cinema's terrace during evening screenings.
The company says the deal demonstrates how biomass heating can find applications beyond the domestic and industrial settings where it is most commonly used.
David Bone, communications officer at Land Energy, said: "Our arrangement with Rooftop Cinema Club really demonstrates the mutually beneficial links between quite distinct parts of UK industry to solve problems and, in this case, keep cinema patrons at the Rooftop Cinema Club more comfortable all while benefiting the environment too."
The Rooftop Cinema Club, which held its first screening in 2011, runs open-air film events through the autumn months.
