Energy services firm Elevion Group has agreed to purchase a 100% stake in BTS Holdings Italy, the parent company of biogas and biomethane plant specialist BTS Biogas, in a move that deepens its footprint in the sector.
The purchase agreement was signed between Netherlands-based Elevion Group B.V. and US firm BTS Bioenergy Europe LLC. Completion of the deal remains conditional on clearance from Italy's antitrust authority and energy regulator.
BTS Biogas, wholly owned by BTS Holdings, delivers engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services alongside operation and maintenance (O&M) for biogas and biomethane facilities. The company has been building, maintaining and running plants for 25 years and employs a team of around 100 specialists. While Italy is its core market, it is also active in France, the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
The deal additionally covers 51% stakes in companies operating nine biomethane plants in northern Italy. Three of these are already producing, while the remaining six are being converted from biogas to biomethane. Once all sites are fully operational, the portfolio is forecast to deliver approximately 30 million standard cubic metres of biomethane annually.
For Elevion, the acquisition supports its strategy of covering the full value chain of modern energy solutions. The group said the deal would strengthen its capabilities across the biogas industry and substantially grow its portfolio of operated gas assets in northern Italy.
