EnviTec Biogas secures 16 MW in German federal auction
EnviTec Biogas has secured awards for plants with a combined electrical capacity of around 16 MW in the latest biomass auction conducted by the German Federal Network Agency under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), with the Lower Saxony-based company describing the outcome as confirmation of its project development quality.

The result represents 82% of the 19.6 MW of capacity the company registered for the round. Seven plants totalling 4.7 MW did not receive an award. A comparable success rate was recorded across companies in which EnviTec holds a stake of 50% or less.

Chief executive Olaf von Lehmden said the awards placed part of the company's plant portfolio on a new long-term remuneration basis. 'At the same time, we are continuing along the path of gradually unlocking value creation outside the subsidised EEG framework for our plants,' he said.

The auction process required intensive preparation, with more than 30 individual bids submitted ahead of the 1 April deadline. Eligible plants were limited to those whose existing EEG support expires by 31 December 2029, as awarded plants must be implemented within 3.5 years of the award date. EnviTec currently operates 35.9 MW of electrical generation capacity in the EEG-supported segment through majority-held plants.

CFO Jörg Fischer said the result confirmed the quality of the company's teams and project development work.

Von Lehmden said the secured remuneration framework would also support capacity utilisation in EnviTec's service segment, while enabling the company to develop new applications beyond EEG support, including heat supply and transport. 'To achieve lasting success in these areas, however, reliable framework conditions are needed — especially in Germany,' he added.
