Pellet fire destroys 850 tonnes of sawdust
In Pine Bluff, Arkansas, US, 850 tonnes of sawdust were burned in a wood pellet plant fire.
None of the 20 workers on duty at the time were injured, although the blaze started at approximately 5.30pm and was not controlled until hours later.
According to the plant controller John Weaver, a loader created a spark, causing a dust explosion and a fire in a storage bin before spreading to the plant’s production area.
