Transport operator Nobina is to introduce 27 Scania biogas buses into service on behalf of Swedish public transport authority Skånetrafiken, operating on the Malmö–Lund/Kristianstad routes.
The vehicles are Scania Irizar i4 models, bodied by Irizar, marking the model's debut in Swedish public transport.
The buses are specified for longer intercity journeys, featuring coach seating, a toilet and additional interior options. They will be delivered in collaboration with Irizar's Swedish representative, LECAB Lastbilar AB.
The order adds to an existing fleet of Scania biogas buses already operating for Skånetrafiken and reflects the region's continued commitment to renewable fuels. A significant share of Sweden's compressed biogas is produced domestically, supporting local value chains alongside emissions reductions.
Rutger Hörndahl, Key Account Manager at Scania Sverige, said biogas was a circular and locally produced solution offering immediate climate benefits, and described the Irizar i4 as well-suited to regional travel.
Helena Ericson, Fleet Manager at Nobina, said sustainability and ease of ownership were both priorities, alongside reliable service for drivers and passengers.
