Mohegan Tribe acquires pellet production facilities in US

A newly-formed subsidiary of the Connecticut-based Mohegan Tribe has acquired a wood pellet production plant, formerly owned by Pennington Seed Co., in Ohio, US.

Northeast Wood Products, the subsidiary, purchased the Ohio plant as well as assets and equipment at the Pennington facility in Virginia and the company's pellet plant in Indiana.

The purchase marks the Mohegan Tribe's first venture into pellet production. Northeast Wood Products will produce premium wood fibre pellets for home and industrial use, which will be sold under the name ThermaGlo.

An estimated 130,000 tonnes of pellets are expected to be produced by the company's Ohio and Indiana plants, which will be both begin operating within the next 120 days.
