Porvoo Energy aims to increase its production capacity for district heat at its site in Loviisa, Finland, with the construction of a new boiler plant.
Work at the €7 million expansion to the plant, which will see the use of renewable fuels on energy production increase from 70% to 90%, has already begun.

Gulf Coast Renewable Energy will locate a $25 million (€19.2 million) wood pellet plant in Mississippi, US.

Danish firm Burmeister and Wain Scandinavian (BWS) has been given planning permission to build a new biomass power plant in Widnes, UK.
The proposed plant is believed to be able burn 147,000 tonnes of wood a year via truck deliveries to generate around 20MW of energy and 3.5MW of heat energy.
