ReFuels N.V., a European supplier of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) aimed at decarbonising heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), has reported a significant rise in Bio-CNG dispensing across its UK network for June 2025.

A total of 5,246 tonnes of Bio-CNG were dispensed from CNG Fuels' 16 public access refuelling stations, marking an 18% increase compared to 4,458 tonnes dispensed from 14 stations in June 2024.

The average daily volume dispensed also rose to 175 tonnes, up from 149 tonnes in the same period last year.

For the three months ending 30 June 2025, the total volume reached 15,906 tonnes, reflecting a 17% increase year-on-year.

During this period, an average of 2,034 vehicles refuelled daily at ReFuels’ Bio-CNG stations, a 16% rise from 1,761 vehicles in the previous year.

Renewable Transport Fuel Certificates (RTFCs) prices averaged 25.5 pence in June, a 27% increase on June 2024 levels.

Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels, highlighted the growing demand as fleet operators transition from diesel to biomethane-fuelled vehicles. He noted the strong underlying trend, emphasised by recent developments showcased at the UK’s largest truck event, The Road Transport Expo, where the haulage industry acknowledged that electrification of heavy trucks is not progressing quickly enough for widespread adoption. This positions biomethane as a mainstream solution with manufacturers such as Iveco and Scania focusing on CNG trucks.

CNG Fuels supported 173 unique customer fleets in the three months to June 2025, compared to 167 in the prior year.
