Porvoon Energia chooses Metso

In Tolkkinen, Finland, sustainable technology and services supplier Metso has been selected to supply Porvoon Energia with a biomass boiler plant for the generation of combined heat and power (CHP).

MW Power, a joint venture between Mesto and power solutions company Wärtsilä, will deliver the plant. The order is expected to be worth in the region of €15 million and is included in Energy and Environmental Technology's Q4 2010 orders received.

Scheduled for completion by Q1 2013, the plant will handle wood chips, bark and sawdust as the main feedstock. It will generate 38MW of district heating for the area of Porvoo, in addition to 12MW of electricity for the National Grid.
