Marubeni Corporation has completed construction of its Aichi Tahara Biomass Power Plant in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
The plant is a wood-fired biomass plant with a generating capacity of 74,950 kW, and is expected to generate approximately 530 million kWh of electricity per year.
Commercial operations are commencing today (26 November). Construction began in February 2022.
To build the plant, Marubeni, JAG Energy, and Osaka Gas established the special purpose company, Aichi Tahara Biomass Power Plant G.K.
The power plant was scheduled to start operations in October.
The company will now integrate upstream wood chip and wood pellet production with downstream heat and power generation through its subsidiary Kaipolan Energia
