Renewable energy finance firm Global NRG Advisory has announced two capital-raising initiatives worth a combined £313 million ($395 million) to support new sustainable energy infrastructure in the United Kingdom and United States.
In the UK, the company is seeking £153 million for Project Wentworth, a portfolio of six anaerobic digestion plants across England with a combined output of 4,800 Sm³/hr.
The facilities will produce biomethane and incorporate carbon-capture technology, generating income from green-gas support payments, gas sales and carbon credits.
Chief executive Chris Negus said the project would help address shortfalls in the UK’s renewable-gas supply while contributing to national decarbonisation goals.
In the US, Project Augusta aims to raise $160 million in equity and secure a further $300 million in project financing to convert food waste into renewable natural gas, bio-LNG and sustainable-aviation-fuel feedstock.
Two flagship facilities, in Indiana and Kentucky, are in advanced development, each with engineering and procurement contracts in place and long-term feedstock and offtake agreements secured.
Chief operating officer Andrew Rice said the initiative targets expansion to eight sites by 2032, capable of processing more than 200,000 tonnes of food waste per plant each year and producing a total of about 3.5 million MMBtu of renewable gas.
Together, the two portfolios are expected to cut several hundred thousand tonnes of CO₂-equivalent emissions annually while creating hundreds of permanent jobs and thousands of construction roles across both countries.
