Another pellet plant on the cards for Mississippi

Drax Biomass International, since 2012, has been developing a 450,000 tonne per year wood pellet production plant in Gloster, in the US state of Mississippi.

The multi-million dollar facility, named Amite BioEnergy, will create 45 direct jobs once operational, in addition to indirect jobs during the construction and in the transportation and forestry sectors.

Now, reports say that a public notice from the Mississippi Environmental Quality Permit Board reveals that Pike BioEnergy - owned by the same company building the Amite BioEnergy plant - plans to build a similar wood pellet facility in the city of Magnolia.

Drax Biomass is a wholly owned US subsidiary of Drax Group, a major utility company based in the UK.
