Taihei Dengyo to develop 2-MW biomass power plant in Japan
Japanese engineering group Taihei Dengyo Kaisha Ltd (TYO:1968) has approved plans to construct a nearly 2-MW biomass-fired power facility in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture.
The project, to be managed through the company’s wholly owned subsidiary Murakami Green Power LLC, will use woody biomass as its fuel source.
Construction is expected to begin in March 2026, with commissioning scheduled by the end of 2027.
Taihei Dengyo has earmarked around JPY 3 billion (USD 20.3m / EUR 17.3m) for the investment.
Once operational, the plant is projected to generate approximately 13,000 MWh of electricity per year, contributing to local renewable energy supply and supporting Japan’s wider decarbonisation efforts.
The initiative builds on a sustainable community development agreement signed between Taihei Dengyo and Murakami City, under which the company has committed to promoting greener energy solutions and local economic development.
