Solarig to invest over €300 million in Italian biomethane infrastructure
Spanish renewable energy firm Solarig has unveiled plans to invest more than €300 million in developing a portfolio of biomethane plants across Italy by 2030.
The investment will be channelled through Biorig, Solarig’s biomethane-focused subsidiary.
Once complete, the Italian network is expected to comprise over 20 facilities, with an estimated annual production capacity of 90 million cubic metres of biomethane – enough to meet the energy needs of approximately 360,000 homes.
The initiative in Italy complements Biorig’s parallel development of 20 plants in Spain.
“Our ambition is to position ourselves as one of Europe’s leading biomethane producers,” said Manuel Alonso, Director General at Biorig. “This business area will become a core part of Solarig’s strategy, alongside our broader renewable energy activities.”
