Indonesian gas distributor PT Pertamina Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) has signed an agreement with NeutraDC Singapore (NDSG) to provide biomethane for forthcoming data centre projects in Singapore.
The memorandum of understanding sets out cooperation on future supply but does not specify the volumes involved.
Under the plan, PGN will produce biomethane from palm oil mill effluent, with distribution due to begin in 2027 through its existing infrastructure in West Java.
Rosa Permata Sari, PGN’s director of strategy and business development, said the partnership highlights opportunities to expand clean energy networks while supporting national transition goals.
The initiative forms part of PGN’s wider “Step Out” strategy, which focuses on developing low-carbon businesses within the Pertamina Group.
Biomethane is considered a near-term solution for reducing emissions while improving energy security.
NeutraDC, a subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia, operates multiple data centres across South-East Asia.
In 2024, Telkom consolidated its Singapore facilities under the NeutraDC brand in a $219 million deal.
The company now manages three data centres in Singapore, as well as facilities in Cikarang, Batam and other Indonesian cities, alongside a network of smaller edge sites.
