Lincolnshire approves Future Biogas’ anaerobic digestion facility

Future Biogas submitted an application to East Lindsey District Council to construct the facility on land west of the B1202 near Wragby. The project also includes an office building, access roads, and related infrastructure.
The council’s planning committee approved the proposal on Thursday 4 December, subject to certain conditions.
The company has stated that the plant could produce up to 150 terawatt-hours of biomethane per year, enough to supply electricity to around 35,000 homes.
Local crops would be transported to the site by lorries, according to plans submitted by the company.
Philip Lucas, chief executive of Future Biogas, highlighted the benefits for local farmers: “We work with hundreds of farmers across the east of England, and this project provides an opportunity for them to adopt more sustainable and regenerative practices.”
Councillor Richard Cunnington raised concerns about delivery times, which could extend until 9 pm.
“Residents deserve peace and quiet and the ability to enjoy their gardens without disturbance,” he said.
Andrew Booth, the council’s development manager lead officer, responded that the conditions had been carefully reviewed by the environmental health team and struck an appropriate balance.
