Italy invests in Pakistan's biogas potential
In Pakistan, the Italian government, along with the Small Industries Development Board (SIDB) is to invest Rs50 million (€716,000) in the development of biogas plants in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The project will see 436 biogas plants erected throughout six districts: Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Haripur and Mansehra.
Pakistan's potential for a thriving biogas sector is great. The biogas can be used for heating, cooking and renewable energy generation. In addition, locals would benefit from the highly nutritious by-product – organic fertiliser.
