Italian renewable energy distributor Green Alliance has expanded its operations in southern Italy through the acquisition of BioEnergy Europe – Pellet and Fire, a regional biomass distributor based in Sicily.
This move further strengthens Green Alliance’s position as a leading player in Italy’s woody biomass energy market.
BioEnergy Europe – Pellet and Fire is a commercial distributor and is not affiliated with the Brussels-based trade association Bioenergy Europe, which represents stakeholders across the bioenergy sector at the EU level.
Based in San Giovanni la Punta near Catania, BioEnergy Europe – Pellet and Fire reported revenues of approximately €8 million in 2024, with an average annual growth rate of 45% over the past five years.
The company’s commercial network spans major retail chains and specialist pellet retailers throughout Sicily.
The acquisition provides Green Alliance with a stronger foothold in Sicily and supports broader supply chain integration across the Italian biomass market. By uniting complementary distribution platforms, the company aims to enhance operational efficiency, scale, and customer reach.
Green Alliance, which already operates more than 15 distribution hubs and moves over 400,000 tonnes of wood pellets per year, expects this acquisition to drive its annual turnover beyond €100 million.
The deal was facilitated by Scouting Capital & Family Advisors, which acted as financial adviser to Green Alliance.
