EnviTec commissions 40th biogas upgrading plant in France

EnviTec Biogas has completed its 40th EnviThan gas upgrading plant in France, located in the Aube region. The facility, operated by Biogaz des Vieilles Vignes, processes around 100 tonnes of agricultural residues each day to produce biomethane, which is fed into the local grid run by NaTran (formerly GRTgaz).

The plant, with a capacity of 400 Nm³/h, is owned by three local farmers. It was commissioned in July following a 12-month construction period. For the first time, EnviTec France designed and installed the full automation and electrical systems in-house.

The site also includes on-site compression technology, allowing the biomethane output to be adapted to the grid’s pressure requirements, up to 70 bar.

Before commissioning, the operators visited several nearby EnviTec plants already in service. Four of these reference sites lie within a 30-kilometre radius.

In parallel with the Premierfait project, EnviTec is preparing to begin construction of a new biogas and gas upgrading facility in Montans, north-east of Toulouse.

The plant, being developed for the recycling company Cler Verts, will be the second project undertaken with EnviTec. A previous 637 kW biogas plant for the same company was completed in 2016. The new facility, designed to process biowaste, is scheduled to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2026.
