Elevion Group and AB partner on five new biomethane plants across Europe

The partnership aims to bolster sustainable energy infrastructure in Germany, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.
Under the agreement, AB will supply five biomethane upgrading systems, employing its advanced 'upgrading' technology that converts raw biogas into high-quality biomethane. Elevion Group will oversee the full-scale engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the plants.
The combined facilities are expected to produce over 36 million cubic metres of biomethane annually, equivalent to the gas consumption of approximately 50,000 European households.
“Our partnership with AB marks a significant step in our mission to accelerate the transition to carbon-neutral energy across Europe,” said Philipp Loewe, CEO of Elevion Group. “Biomethane offers a scalable, renewable energy solution, and we’re proud to contribute to more sustainable farming and waste management.”
AB CEO, Angelo Baronchelli, added: “This collaboration brings together two companies committed to innovation and environmental stewardship. These projects represent not just energy production, but a model of sustainable growth.”
Construction on the plants is already underway, with commissioning expected by the end of 2025.
